Akari Pendant Lamp
Akari lamp is a modernization of Japanese paper lanterns by sculptor Isamu Noguchi. The first lamps were designed in 1951 when Noguchi was in Gifu, Japan, and were inspired by the traditional lanterns used by local fishermen for night fishing on the Nagara River. Akari lamps are handcrafted from bamboo ribbed and translucent paper. Isamu Noguchi combines Akari light with traditional paper-light sculptures that create a warm glow and a pleasant atmosphere.
